It is possible that in the near future, the “Formula 1” will have a serious competitor – the race kvadrokopterov. The first step in this direction has already been taken. Last weekend in Dubai on the world’s first 590-meter race track Skydive Dubai, built specifically for unmanned aerial vehicles, the world premiere – World Drone Prix.
Elements of the route
150 riders from all over the world took part in the competition. The winner was 15-year-old Englishman Luke Bannister, who demonstrated an excellent command of quadrocopter control skills and an amazing reaction. At home, he will take away the gold medal and the cup of 250,000 dollars. The total prize fund of the competition was $ 1 million.

Participants competed in two types – freestyle and racing. The prizes were established in the nominations “favorite among spectators”, “for the fastest circle” and “the fastest local team of the UAE”. However, the races of quadrocopters became the main ones without a doubt . Very quickly after their beginning, the number of applicants for the main prize fell from 150 to 32.

The British team won the Tornado X-Blades Banni UK, led by Luke Bannister. Silver went to the owners of the championship team Dubai Drone Tek, the third became our compatriots from the team VS Meshceriakov. Its captain – pilot Vladimir Meshcheryakov also became the winner in the nomination “for the fastest lap”.
